From TV sales in Japan to dentistry in Brazil and the U.S.: the journey of someone who proves it’s never too late to start over at 50
The path of an entrepreneur is rarely straight. It twists, pauses, and demands reinvention. But when viewed in hindsight, every step forms part of a greater mosaic. This is the story of Alex, who at 50 has embraced a new chapter with ToothTalk by Alex — a project that bridges dentistry, communication, and legacy.
The journey began in Japan in 2004, when Alex launched TV ShopLegal, inspired by the Brazilian program ShoTour. Without the resources to sustain a traditional TV channel, he boldly produced the show on DVDs, selling them directly to local business owners. It was a pioneering effort — created entirely by an immigrant navigating a language that wasn’t his own.
Alex’s career had already spanned multiple roles: TV presenter at IPCTV (a former Rede Globo affiliate in Japan), editor at Look Up TV, and later founder of his own production company, HolyFire Pictures, in 2008. His entrepreneurial drive caught attention, earning him media coverage and even an invitation from TV Record International, which drew on his model to launch ShopJapan when opening its Asian branch.
By 2009, Alex was back in Brazil for new opportunities. TV ShopLegal continued until 2014, but the rise of YouTube transformed media forever, closing that cycle and opening the door to another.
That next chapter began in health. In Brazil, Alex trained as a Dental Health Technician (TSB) — his first step toward dentistry. Years later, in the U.S., he earned his certification as a Dental Assistant, and today he is preparing to become a Dental Hygienist, establishing himself firmly in the healthcare field.
Looking back, Alex sees no wasted effort. Every challenge, every unexpected turn, prepared him for the present. What once felt unreachable — dentistry, costly and out of reach — is now a lived reality at 50.

ToothTalk by Alex reflects this convergence of communication and dentistry: a platform to educate, inspire, and leave a legacy. More than discussing oral health, it’s about resilience, faith, and the courage to keep going.
“I thank God for every opportunity. Today I celebrate the joy of starting over, of working in a profession that brings me fulfillment, and one whose mission is both simple and profound: to bring a smile — to the face, the heart, and the soul of every person.”
