Brasília, DF – Menstrual poverty is a silent issue that deeply impacts the lives of thousands of women and girls in situations of social vulnerability in Brazil. The lack of access to sanitary pads and hygiene products during menstruation is not only a matter of physical health, but also of dignity and mental well-being.
Understanding the urgency of this scenario, Apsivida Integrated Psychology, in partnership with the Formiguinhas do Brasil Foundation and with the support of ToothTalk by Alex, carried out an important initiative in Brasília (DF) to reduce the effects of menstrual poverty and its consequences. Although our main focus is oral health, we understand that promoting well-being goes far beyond teeth and smiles: it means addressing the basic needs that ensure self-esteem and quality of life.
This mobilization, recorded in video, was also an appeal to the public to join us in this cause. Community participation is essential so that no woman or girl has to face the embarrassment, isolation, and emotional impacts caused by the lack of hygiene items.
Together, we reaffirm that health is comprehensive, and that small actions can transform realities.
